Precision Cemented Rod Lenses for Miniature Endoscope and Relay Optics
Precision Cemented Rod Lenses for Miniature Endoscope and Relay Optics
Cemented rod lenses are miniature cylindrical optical elements made by bonding two or more glass components—such as plano-convex, plano-concave, or meniscus shapes—into a single rod-style assembly. Also called cemented microrod lenses or Hopkins rod lens elements, they deliver 1:1 image rlay, low distortion, and excellent chromatic correction in very small diameters. Our cemented rod lenses are available from 0.6 mm diameter up, with N-BK7, UV fused silica, and medical-grade glass combinations, optical cement bonding, and AR coating options. Ideal for rigid endoscopes, industrial borescopes, and compact relay optics where space, brightness, and alignment stability matter.
Applications:
Rigid endoscopes: 1:1 image relay in Hopkins rod systems
Industrial borescopes: small-bore visual inspection
Arthroscopes / laparoscopes: high-brightness medical imaging
Dental / veterinary micro cameras: compact front relays
Machine-vision probes: linear inspection in tight spaces
Laser micro-systems: collimation paired with separate rod lenses
